Job Description:

Your tasks:

Independent scientific research in the field of dynamic meteorology with a focus on synoptic scales and storm tracks Acquisition of new research projects Publications in internationally recognised media Collaboration in teaching Supervision of students Collaboration in the context of academic self-administration Collaboration in the development and maintenance of the working group's software library

Your profile:

Doctorate in a discipline of atmospheric sciences (such as meteorology, atmospheric physics, climatology) or a related discipline Sound knowledge of dynamic meteorology, especially on synoptic scales Knowledge of extratropical storms, jet streams and storm tracks is an advantage Knowledge of the interaction between weather and climate variability is an advantage Knowledge of diabatic processes, especially wet diabatic processes, and their influence on synoptic and planetary scales advantageous Ability to combine theory with data analysis of numerical simulations, reanalyses, or climate models an advantage Broad programming skills in at least one high-level programming language Knowledge of Fotran and Python an advantage Knowledge of the use of high-performance computing is an advantage Commitment to the planning, implementation and management of scientific projects Good written and spoken communication skills in English - command of German is an advantage Experience in university teaching; competence in supervising students; didactic competence Communication and teamwork skills
