We are looking for a
Senior
Backend Software Engineer
to join our
Mobile Apps Team , bring new features to life, and support the evolution of our services and products. You will work closely with the product owner, area architect, and your team members to clarify business needs and technical requirements and define how to best support them. In close collaboration with other teams, your team will introduce new features and improvements to the mobile apps to provide an even better experience for more than 11 million of our customers!
As our Senior Backend Software Engineer:
You will work with your team and product owner in a challenging agile environment, collaborating closely with other teams.
You will participate in the team's technical/architectural discussions and decisions.
You will develop and continuously deliver applications for one of Europe's most successful pet e-commerce platforms.
You will participate in the complete software development life cycle from discovery through coding, testing, deployment, and maintenance.
You will learn and grow your skills daily, striving for mastery using state-of-the-art technologies and practices such as AWS, microservices, Docker, and more.
At the
Mobile Apps , our primary responsibility is the iOS and Android apps, including the services that power them. This includes all aspects of the customer journey, from onboarding, personalized home feed, wishlist, search and catalog to cart and checkout. As a rapidly growing channel, the Mobile Apps are crucial to the company's success.

Java 11+, Spring framework
CI/CD with Jenkins pipeline
Amazon Web Services and cloud deployments (S3, SNS, SQS, RDS, DynamoDB, etc.), using tools such as Terraform or AWS CLI
Git, Scrum, Pair Programming, Peer Reviewing
Your responsibilities
Participate in solution investigation, estimations, planning, and alignment with other teams.
Design, implement, deliver, and support backend solutions (RESTful web services) using microservices architecture.
Work closely with other teams to integrate their solutions into the mobile apps.
Promote and implement test automation (unit tests, integration tests, e2e tests and performance tests).
Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for continuous integration, development, and deployment.
Deploy applications on the cloud using technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, AWS and Terraform.
Work closely with the team in an agile and collaborative environment. This will involve code reviews, pair programming, knowledge sharing, and incident coordination.
Maintain existing applications and reduce technical debt.
Must have:
6+ years of professional experience with Python; experience with Java and the Spring Framework is a plus.
Strong understanding of complex architecture landscapes, with the ability to independently investigate and implement new features.
Ownership mindset with a strong focus on delivering high-quality solutions; experience with unit testing and Test-Driven Development (TDD).
Experience with DevOps tools and practices, including container orchestration, CI pipelines, monitoring and alerting, AWS, and Kubernetes.
Interest in contributing across the full software development lifecycle (frontend, backend, testing, and DevOps).
Ability to mentor junior colleagues and help structure and clarify requirements.
Empathetic team player with the ability to build effective working relationships.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Nice to have:
Experience working within Agile practices and knowledge of Agile values&principles.
Experience working with Microservices.
Experience in the e-commerce domain.
Experience with AI-assisted development and modern SDLC tooling:
Tools like GitHub Copilot / Copilot Chat
Applying AI for code generation, refactoring, test automation, and documentation
Using AI to accelerate debugging, prototyping, and architectural decisions
The minimum gross salary according to the collective agreement (it&consulting) is EUR 67,900 yearly, based on 38.5 hours per week (full-time). As we strive to offer a salary that reflects your individual profile and qualifications, there is a willingness to pay above the minimum salary.
