Senior Accountant&Team Lead - Austrian GAAP Expert, Vienna

An international industrial company based in Austria.

We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to oversee day-to-day accounting operations and lead a small finance team. This is a key position within the finance department, combining hands‑on accounting tasks with leadership responsibilities. The ideal candidate will bring a solid background in Austrian GAAP (UGB), experience in team coordination, and a proactive, process-oriented mindset.

Key Responsibilities

Supervise daily accounting operations, including AP, AR, GL, and fixed assets.

Coordinate and support the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing processes in accordance with UGB.

Review journal entries, account reconciliations, and internal reports to ensure accuracy and compliance.

Lead, coach, and support a team of 3–4 accountants, assigning tasks and monitoring workload.

Prepare and review VAT returns and collaborate with external tax advisors (Steuerberater) on local tax filings.

Support audit preparations (internal and external) and ensure proper documentation.

Contribute to process improvements and accounting system optimization.

Assist in the implementation of finance and accounting projects (e.g., automation, digitalization).

Collaborate closely with Controlling, HR, and other internal departments.

Qualifications&Skills

Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

5 years of professional experience in accounting; preferably in manufacturing

Strong knowledge of Austrian GAAP (UGB) and Austrian tax regulations (USt, KöSt).

Experience with ERP systems (e.g., BMD, SAP, or similar).

Fluency in German (C1 level); good command of English for internal communication.

Structured, hands‑on, and solution-driven personality.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to lead a small team effectively.
