Graduate Visual UI Designer, Vienna

Overview The role of a Visual UI Designer at Canonical sits within the design team, reporting to the design manager - brand&marketing. The team is focused on turning complex, open-source software into intuitive products for enterprise IT, and the Visual UI Designer will help bring the Ubuntu and Canonical brands to life across events, offices, digital and social assets. This is a remote role based in the EMEA region.

What will your day look like Canonical creates world-renowned software that impacts millions of engineers, enterprises, entrepreneurs and consumers. The design team works in a multi-disciplinary environment with visual designers, UX designers, front-end and back-end engineers to deliver exciting web projects. You will contribute to visually compelling, usable designs, collaborating closely with colleagues to improve work and processes. Real content and information will be at the core of your designs, and you will apply your knowledge of typography, colour and layout with a focus on usability, accessibility and web standards. Agency, company or freelance design experience is welcomed.

What we are looking for in you

Excellent academic results at school and university

Bachelor's or equivalent in Art / Design

Exceptional design talent with experience in branding, including visual identities and brand experiences

Knowledge and passion for user experience, technology and design

Commitment to continuous learning and improvement— curious, flexible, scientific

Engagement with the latest design research and innovation

Knowledge of tools such as InDesign, Illustrator, Figma, or Penpot
